Princess of Vernaza

Princess of Vernazza is an enchanting typical tower house on top of Vernazza. It can be reached going up a lot of steps but the effort to reach it is well rewarded by the place. You will have breakfast included in rental rate and special rates if you choose to have lunch or dinner at the restaurant.

The property has 2 double rooms and 1 single room on upper floor bearing nice evoking names: Bright Star (double with balcony), Sunshine (double with window) and Moonlight (single) - the 2 double rooms have a wonderful sea-view and are overlooking the center of the village. One floor below, there's another double room, Red Sunset, with private bathroom, TV set and with window opening on the characteristic crooked path of Vernazza.

Moterosso Vacation Rental
Wimco Villas

L'Uccelliera, a Monterosso holiday rental near Cinque Terre, is a former hunting lodge built at the end of the nineteenth century on a hill just above the village of Monterosso. It is surrounded by vineyards as well as lemon trees, and is immersed in the scent of pine trees and brooms.

There are outstanding views from either side of the property; the eastern side looks out to the Cinque Terre as far as the island of Timo, and the western side has a view of Punta Mesco that stands out from the sea. The villa is part of a 5000 square meter estate that extends on two sides of a hill cultivated with vineyards, lemon trees, and a vegetable garden. The old town of Monterosso is just at a ten minute walk away, reachable by a footpath. This villa sleeps 6+1 people.

Manarola

Cinque Terre Manarola

This village is set in a ravine with a tiny, picturesque harbor. There is no sand beach but Manarola Cinque Terre has the best deep water swimming.

Things to do: Piazza Capellini has a mosaic showing the varieties of local fish. The Sciaccetra Museum includes an exhibit on the local wine industry. The Church of St. Lawrence, built in 1338, has 2 paintings by a local artist. The Manarola Vineyard Walk takes you past lemon groves, dry stone walls, and wooden religious scenes crafted by a local artist. The nearby cemetery (with the best views in town) is interesting with its marble memorial relics and photos.

Old town has charming, windy streets, a square and small shops. The train station and main parking lot are in new town.

Hiking on a Cinque Terre Vacation

Hiking between the five cities is a great experience on a Cinque Terre vacation. The trail gets steeper, rockier and more difficult as you move north so it is best to start at Riomaggiore.

Cinque Terre Italy hiking

Hike early in the day because it is cooler and the light is better. Our family hiked the easy first stretch from Riomaggiore to Manarola mid-afternoon in the heat of July....it was quite uncomfortable.

There is a fee for using the trail which is run by the Cinque Terre National Marine Park.

The approximate hiking times are: Riomaggiore to Manarola - 20 minutes, Manarola to Corniglia - 45 minutes, Corniglia to Vernazza - 90 minutes (some say this is the most beautiful hike, but more difficult), Vernazza to Monterosso - 90 minutes.
