Wine Country Vacations

Viansa Winery Sonoma California
Viansa Winery by rick

Sonoma California is about 17 miles long. There are 6000 acres of vineyards and 60 wineries, some world famous, in this laid-back part of the California wine country.

At the foot of the valley, is the tiny town of Sonoma California.

This beautiful area is an excellent choice for California vacations.

The town's Spanish style plaza, loaded with restaurants and shops, is a preserved historical site. There is a Visitor Center and the 1823 restored Mission San Francisco Solano de Sonoma.

The Jack London State Historic Park has a museum with Jack London, author of "Call of the Wild", memorbilia.

A great way to see the area is to rent a bike at Sonoma Valley Cyclery Ph. 707-935-3377. The wineries in Sonoma Valley, unlike nearby Napa Valley, allow picnics.

Sonoma California Weather:
Sonoma weather is perfect in my opinion. Even in the warm summer months with average highs of 85-90 degrees, the evenings cool down to 50 to 52 degrees. The coldest months are December and January with highs in the 50's and lows in the mid to high 30's.

Directions:
90 miles North of San Francisco on Highway 101 or I-80....so a great side trip on a San Francisco getaway.
