Boothbay - near New Harbor

New Harbor & Boothbay - New Harbor is a working fishing village about 1 1/2 hours (64 miles) North of Portland. Explore the 1827 Permaquid Point Lighthouse (pictured on the back of the State quarter for Maine). Check out the cheap lobster dinners at Shaw's Fish & Lobster (May-Oct).

Camden Harbor

Camden - This quaint, sheltered, harbor town....most beautiful in Maine....is 1 hour (38 miles) North of New Harbor. It has Victorian homes, shopping in centuries old store fronts, sailing ships, arts and crafts fairs and more.

Acadia National Park

Bar Harbor - This town is 2 hours (76 miles) north of Camden and is located on Mt. Desert Island. Try the Loop Road in beautiful nearby Acadia National Park or hike to the top of Cadillac Mountain the place where you can see the sunrise first in the U.S. Try the Island Chowder Restaurant.

Fall Getaways - New England is famous for its fantastic Fall colors....so Fall Getaways to Maine are a great choice. The weather is cool and perfect for hiking and exploring the lovely harbor towns. In October there is an annual two-day Fall Foliage Festival and Craft Fair in Boothbay.

Romantic Getaways in New England - Any time of year is great for romantic Maine Getaways. In summer there is....hiking, biking, sailing, kayaking, whale watching and delicious lobster dinners. Boothbay is 7 miles from New Harbor. Check out the Welch House Inn. Set on a hill overlooking the harbor there are 14 beautifully decorated rooms. The views from public areas, deck and rooms are spectacular. Shops and restaurants are within walking distance.

Try the Blue Harbor House in the beautiful harbor town of Camden. The 6 rooms and 5 suites (lovely, homey feel) are perfect for a romantic weekend getaway. Located just a few blocks from the harbor, shops and restaurants.

The Hartstone Inn is an elegant 21 room Camden Inn with an award winning gourmet restaurant, spa and cooking school. The furnishings and amenities are luxurious. Great for girls getaways or a romantic getaway.

Bar Harbor has the Primrose Inn, a historic romantic Victorian style Inn. There are rooms with gas fireplaces, spa tubs, adjoining reading and sitting rooms as well as private balconies and porches.

Maples Inn is located in a quiet neighborhood close to Bar Harbor town. Enjoy the comfortable rooms and tea on the front porch or by the fire....it feels like "home".

If you prefer a hotel or are planning a family vacation getaway, check out the Ocean Gate Resort (800-221-5924) in Boothbay. It is a 25 acre property set on a "finger" of coast witn economical rooms to waterfront 2 bedroom cottages....outdoor pool, complimentary continental breakfast.

The Lord Camden Inn (207-236-4325) is an upscale boutique hotel in a historic building downtown Camden. It has lovely rooms....some with fireplaces, most with private balconies....breakfast buffet included.

A more economical choice on Maine getaways is the Penobscot Bay Inn (207-338-5715), in Belfast with 20 rooms.
