San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge

Getaway Destination in the Rockies

My favorite vacation spot is Butte, Montana. Signs of this mining town's rough and tumble past are still evident. It's a great place for someone interested in history and geology.

The longest running brothel in the country was still standing when I was there. In the parking lot someone had put up silhouette cutouts of "ladies". I understand that a speakeasy was discovered under one of the abandoned buildings and was restored.

I am going back for the express purpose of visiting the Montana Tech Mineral Museum. There is also a huge statue called Lady of the Rockies overlooking the Butte.

This would make a memorable family vacation. I would definitely recommend going there in the summer. I have been there two times, both times in June, and encountered snow.
