Fredericksburg - A Fantastic Day Trip!

My husband and I visited Fredericksburg "by accident" one day. You see, we were on vacation in Austin, Texas for the week. We managed to time our visit during an unusual spell of rainy weather. It was rainy when our plane touched down, and kept raining for 3 days straight!

Finally, I decided we would drive our rental car to Fredericksburg, "or until we hit a place that it was sunny". We didn't really know what to expect of Fredericksburg based on the brochure we had picked up in our hotel lobby, but we were NOT disappointed!

After a delightful lunch at a restaurant featuring authentic German fare, we visited the local winery, where we taste-tested and stocked up on one-of-a-kind souvenirs for everybody back in New England.

It was a fantastic day, and by the time we arrived back in Austin, the rain had stopped and we were glad that we had been given the perfect excuse to visit Fredericksburg!
