Bed and Breakfast Newport- a great weekend break. I think this is one of the most ideal cities in the U.S. for a Bed and Breakfast Getaway!!
There are loads of beautiful, historic homes that have been converted into B and B's in this gorgeous harbor town.
I have always loved staying in Bed and Breakfasts - ever since experiencing them in Europe. It makes me feel like I am "living" in the town, instead of just a visitor.
Newport Bed - Breakfast are scattered throughout the city. There is abundance of choices, but during high season they can fill up quickly. If you are looking for last minute deals Newport Bed and Breakfast you will probably have to avoid the weekends, holidays and warm weather.
Later Fall and early Spring might be a good time to get discounts and still experience decent weather.
I have stayed in several different Newport B&B.
My personal favorite is the Melville House. It is in a great location on a quiet historic street....close to downtown and Bellevue Avenue, and not far from the Newport Mansions. This Colonial house was built in 1750 and is on the "National Register Historic Places". It is very homey, cozy and the breakfast is delicious! This is not a fancy B and B, but true to The simpler Colonial style. Two of their rooms share a bathroom, which can cut the cost down a little.
I have also stayed at the Architects Inn - George Champlin Mason House. This large Victorian mansion is very elegant and decorated in period furnishings. A tasty breakfast is served in the lovely dining room in winter and on the porch in summer. This is a few blocks from Bellevue Avenue.
